Equations of parametric surfaces with base points via syzygies

چکیده
Suppose S is a parametrized surface in complex projective 3-space P given as the image of φ : P ×P1 → P. The implicitization problem is to compute an implicit equation F = 0 of S using the parametrization φ. An algorithm using syzygies exists for computing F if φ has no base points, i.e. φ is everywhere defined. This work is an extension of this algorithm to the case of a surface with multiple base points of total multiplicity k. We accomplish this in three chapters. In Chapter 2, we develop the concept and properties of Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity in biprojective spaces. In Chapter 3, we give a criterion for regularity in biprojective spaces. These results are applied to the implicitization problem in Chapter 4.

Matrix Representations by Means of Interpolation
We examine two different matrix representations of curves and surfaces based on or constructed by interpolation through points. Both are essentially implicit representations of objects given as parametric models or given as a point cloud, and both are quite powerful since they reduce geometric operations to linear algebra. First, we examine a representation by interpolation matrices, developed ...
متن کاملA Package for Computing Implicit Equations of Parametrizations from Toric Surfaces
In this paper we present an algorithm for computing a matrix representation for a surface in P3 parametrized over a 2-dimensional toric variety T embedded into a projective space. This algorithm follows the ideas of [BDD09] and [Bot11] and it is implemented in Macaulay2 [GS]. The authors show in [BDD09] that such a surface can be represented by a matrix of linear syzygies if the base points are...
متن کاملImplicitization of Surfaces in P in the Presence of Base Points
We show that the method of moving quadrics for implicitizing surfaces in P applies in certain cases where base points are present. However, if the ideal defined by the parametrization is saturated, then this method rarely applies. Instead, we show that when the base points are a local complete intersection, the implicit equation can be computed as the resultant of the first syzygies.

The numerical solution methods (GDQ) for shells with piezoelectric layers and plain...
متن کاملImplicitizing rational surfaces with base points using the method of moving surfaces
The method of moving planes and moving quadrics can express the implicit equation of a parametric surface as the determinant of a matrix M . The rows of M correspond to moving planes or moving quadrics that follow the parametric surface. Previous papers on the method of moving surfaces have shown that a simple base point has the effect of converting one moving quadric to a moving plane. A much ...
